Protects surfaces from contamination

We currently offer this product on request.

Mixing ratio generally: 1:3 with fresh water

Before applying U.N. 221 FC, all equipment and the cargo area must be clean and dry.

U.N. 221 FC should be applied to surfaces at an ambient temperature between +1°C and +40°C.

Notes

  • U.N. 221 FC must never be used as a concentrate.
  • Mix chemicals with fresh water only.
  • For optimal results, always add fresh water to the U.N. 221 FC – not the other way around.

The recommendations above are based on empirical data. There is no scientific formula to determine the required amount of Top Coat U.N. 221 FC for each individual ship.

Several factors can influence the required quantity, including the crew's skills, efficiency, and experience, the condition of the holds, weather conditions, the job height, and the equipment used.

Order

When spraying U.N. 221 FC, a uniform layer should be achieved. Start at the bottom and work your way up.

U.N. 221 FC is white, making it easy to see which areas have already been treated.

Rusted surfaces may require an additional application of U.N. 221 FC to achieve the desired protective coating.

For the application, a low-pressure pump should be used, for example, a hand sprayer.

Depending on the temperature and surroundings, U.N. 221 FC takes approximately 2 to 6 hours to dry. During this time, the coating changes from white to transparent and becomes waxy and viscous.

General mixture

1 x 25 kg drum U.N. 221 FC + 3 x 25 kg drums fresh water

Distance

U.N. 221 FC is environmentally friendly and can be removed easily with U.N. 200. Use the same procedure as for U.N. 221 FC.

Spray U.N. 200 from bottom to top. After 20 minutes, rinse with fresh water, starting from the top and working downwards.

To remove cement or clinker, use U.N. 150/6 concrete remover. Mixing ratio: 1:1 to 1:4.

For other loads such as coal, use a mixture of 1 part UN 200 and 1 to 3 parts fresh water.

Test the appropriate solution on small test areas first to determine the economically optimal mixing ratio.

The exposure time for both products is approximately 20 minutes.

U.N. 221 FC forms a wax film which prevents cross-contamination between the cargo and the hold coating. This minimises the risk of contamination between the cargo and the hold coating.

Additionally, U.N. 221 FC facilitates the cleaning of the cargo hold and reduces the need for cleaning chemicals.

U.N. 221 FC is supplied in 25kg drums. The product is a concentrate and must be mixed with fresh water before use.
